This is a 6-week course that meets every Tuesday evening.
Lessons are a combination of lecture and workshop. Students will have an assignment to work on each week, as well as plays to read based on each class. Each writer will have a chance to hear their work read aloud in class, as well as in the showcase at the end of June.
This class is oriented towards generative writing. Students will have finished a one-act play or the beginning of their full-length play by the end of this course.
I do not believe in telling you how to write. I am interested in helping you discover your own unique writing process, and leaning into what works for you and the art you want to create. What you will take from this class is an understanding of how plays and performance function, along with a toolkit that will help you create and develop your writing.
