For actors and non-actors alike! You will learn improv in a fun, supportive and non-competitive environment. Through theater games, skill-building exercises and scene work you will learn techniques that will help you access your creativity and spontaneity. Discover how improv can help you build confidence and become more comfortable with verbal, emotional and physical expression -- on and offstage. And there are plenty of laughs to be had!

IMPROV II
INTERMEDIATE IMPROV CLASS $325

In IMPROV II, you will build upon your improv skills with more challenging exercises and scene work. You will enhance your character creation, storytelling, physical/verbal expression, and environment work. Building confidence and tapping into your creativity will continue to be stressed, as well as building trust and cooperation within the group. As always, Susan creates a mutually supportive, fun and collaborative environment, ideal for learning and taking risks.

About Susan Kaessinger

Susan has been teaching, coaching, directing and performing improvisational theater for over 25 years and has founded, directed, performed with and/or produced several improv teams including NYC’s Mission: Improv-able; the all-female Script Tease; the musical house team at the Peoples Improv Theater, MC Hammerstein; and Mishmash!, which performed bi-weekly at The Creek and The Cave in Long Island City from 2011-2016. She was the recipient of the Creek Award for Best Improv in 2013.

Since founding Improv Etc. in 2001, Susan has taught adult classes and private coaching throughout NYC and the tri-state area. As a faculty member of the Lucy Moses School from 2008-2017, Susan taught improvisation to adults and children, including for their Summer Musical Theater Workshop.

Since 2019 (including via Zoom during the pandemic), Susan has been teaching an after-school program at Stuyvesant High School. She has also taught workshops for the parents and siblings of special needs children for The Hebrew Academy for Special Children (HASC), home-schooled children for NYCHEA (New York City Home Educators Alliance) and an after-school program at Congregation Beth Elohim in Park Slope.

Susan is a Ditmas Park resident and is thrilled to join the Flatbush Theater Project and to have the opportunity to teach in her own community!
